I am a big believer in K.I.S.S. or keep it simple stupid! When I undertake a project I try to make things as simple as possible. So I won’t lose interest and keep it fun.
I had been on the lookout for an old bike that was reasonably priced. About a year ago I found one for $7.50. I took it home and it stayed on the side of my garage for about a year, getting rustier and rustier.
Inspiration hit and I went to Lowes and picked up some Outdoor Valspar spray paint. I have used many spray paints and I have to say this is probably my favorite. Always use a mask with spray paint if you want to still have lungs 10 years from now!
Some simple preparation was in order. This chain was so rusted I had to cut it off.
I also had to tear off the tape on the handlebars.
I wiped the whole bike down with soapy water and let dry.
I did a test spot and decided I LOVED the color!
I keep big boxes and pieces of cardboard around for spray painting and I usually spray on a part of the grass no one sees. Spray a coat then let that dry for about 5-15minutes and then go back and do more.
The bike took three cans of spray paint.
I let it cure overnight in the garage and……..
HERE SHE IS!
CLOSER~
The great thing about this is it can be touched up at any time with a little Spray Paint! 🙂
My bunny, Vintage Lily, agreed to a little photo-shoot! 🙂
K.I.S.S. friends and remember……….
I have one rusting out side my kitchen window , I’m gonna use it as a street sign for my little shop , it’s been way down in my priority list but after seeing yours I’m gonna get my self in gear 😉( see what I did there )
Thanks for the inspiration
