Making Wired, Picture Frames

You have seen them haven’t you? Cute little picture frames with wires or twine going across clothes-pinned pictures?  I set out to make my own. I decided to make the wire one which I chose for durability.

I had several frames I picked up cheaply at a garage sale  They were picture frames. You know the gold kind that  nobody wants in their houses anymore?!

Gold frame removed. Remember the walls of these?

Next I painted them untitled (1 of 1)-68

I added a wood stain to one of them.

First I added some java wood stain to this one.

I dry brushed some of the original paint back on to better highlight the detail.

To dry brush I use a paper plate and get most of the paint off of the brush onto the paint and with quick brush strokes go over the area to highlight.

This is the end result:

After stain and dry brushing.

I measured and marked the inside of the frame once I decided how to evenly place the wire. (here is where hubby helped me with drilling and screwing)

This is where hubby helped me with drilling and measuring (a bit dyslexic) :)

Next, I drilled a small hole along the side and added small screws. Make sure the screws are small enough to not show.untitled (1 of 1)-70

The next step was wrapping the wire around the one screw and then the opposite screw. To assure that the wire was tight, both screws were then tightly screwed in

A small enough screw to not show on the other side.

LASTLY:

Decorating is the fun part!
